There was supposed to be a rope to haul backpacks up, it was gone, Kev is strong enough from climbing to reach down and pull the packs up with one hand.
Even Brad's pack wouldn't fit

I will have Craig and the boys elaborate later, but here are a few pictures from their trip.

Two Peas in a Pod

When I got here about midnight on Wednesday night look what I found in my bed.  I thought no problem they were snuggled up tight to each other in the middle of the bed, I could just crawl in on the side.  Nope.  When I pulled back the covers, their heads were in the center but they both had their bodies pointed across the bed to the side.  I decided not to move them, grabbed an extra comforter and slept on the floor.

More Commuting, Spring Break Week 2

Tomorrow I fly back to Utah, I'm getting a feel for Craig's back and forth. I don't like it. He doesn't like it. But as for Spring Break Week 2, the boys skied again today at Canyons and had a good time. Thursday in the wee hours of the morning they leave for Coyote Gulch/Escalante. It will be a hurried trip to make it back for Breanna's wedding on Saturday, but should be fun. We bought innertubes for the boys to float in last week, Craig didn't want one, he said he would hike the river. The boys and I decided why hike when you can float and bought him one anyway. I almost got him one that reclines with cupholders but decided it weighed too much.  He'll thank me later for the tube I'm sure!

While the boys (except Bri who has classes and his own rec class trip, and Brent who is working for Kendall) are gone I am playing with the grandsons.  Kerri is studying all day Thursday and takes her big test on Friday, it's not her board, but the test she has to pass to take her boards.  I'm not sure what we're doing yet but I'm sure it will involve cooking, dinosaurs, shopping for new toys and artwork.  We'll be back in Redlands on Sunday, however it is the last day of the Redlands Bicycle Classic so we'll see if we can actually get to our house.

Brave, Brave Men

They did it!  Craig and Kev hit the register button.  They are in.  So everyone, save the date, May 1, 2010.  They are going to need all the cheerleaders they can get.

Skiing, Skiing

Canyons
Sundance

Music and the Spoken Word, the boys really enjoyed going to the live broadcast this morning, they were really happy when they realized it was only a half hour broadcast.

Brent, Kyle and Brad it was a beautiful morning.

We had Brad's birthday dinner tonight.  If you are wondering if you forgot Brad's birthday, no your memory is ok, it really is Thursday, but he is going on a hiking trip.  Craig, Kev, Kyle and Brad are doing a Coyote Gulch trip.

Brad put all the candles very close together so he could blow them out easily, but he wouldn't tell us what the wish was.

Do all the pictures we have of Sarah and Brian seem very similar?

Well Tomorrow Is.........

Ok, I missed Friday the 13th by a week, and today while I'm writing this it really is still Thursday, but nonetheless, tomorrow, I am the one doing the commuting.  Yes all week the boys have been in Utah, doing fun things, skiing, rock climbing, movies, skatepark, all their usual haunts.  We are creatures of habit aren't we.  Instead of Craig coming home this weekend, I am on the 6:00 am flight. Yes, I really am missing my boys, cupboard cleaning only entertained me for so long.

Michael Phelan and Mary Phelan Phelan

Ahh a day to think about the Irish side of the family. The Phelan side of the family was from County Leix, Ireland. Family stories have it that my great great grandparents Michael and Mary were first cousins who married, for some reason angering the family, at least Mary's family. I'm not sure why, I think cousins marrying was far more common then. Anyway they ran away to Liverpool (not sure if that's where they married) and according to a family story found the going tough. They returned to Cappalinnan and demanded a dowry from Mary's brother John. Shots were fired, and the case came up for trial in Thurles, Tipperary. Apparently Michael lost and Michael and Mary fled to the U.S. First to Michigan where they had an Uncle and then on to California where Mary's brother Kyran was already mining gold.  How fun would it be if there were a journal!

At the House Past Vegas

We went to the temple!

Kael, had driving lessons while he was here, good thing, he can help with the driving if Papa or Brent get too tired.
Kyle had mountain bike riding lessons, but he preferred the skateboard.
Pretty soon he'll be riding the little black mountain bike.

It takes lots of concentration to ride this long board

Adventures in Eating

So does anyone care to guess what Kyle is extracting from this shell--oh yeah, I guess it's pretty obvious it's an egg, but what kind of egg? I will give you a hint, he was over at the Cannon's. Does that help? It was served with buffalo sausage. No fair asking Brent or Brad, they were there too.  All three said they really liked it.  Guesses?
P.S.  Thanks for the pictures Bob.
And the answer to the egg question?  EMU
EDIT:  I got some of the details wrong, for the real scoop click here

Fifty Bucks and the Fear of Failure

Well, that's been my motto. It keeps me motivated to work out, to run, ride and swim. Lately I have had NO motivation at all, today I realized, well of course, nothing is on the line. I'm in for Spudman, a gimme freebie, so I am a little ambivalent about even going, especially if Kyle and Craig don't get in in the lottery. St. George lottery is still a ways away so.....ok this is it, I registered for Salem Spring Triathlon. It's May 30, just enough time to get ready and have a fun day. Ker is doing it too if nursing boards aren't that day. Kev? Bri? Amazing what motivation a few dollars already spent can provide!

It's a beautiful day, beach weather is almost back and the time changes on Sunday, hooray for long days. Could life be any better?

EDIT: Friday, did I just get a little too exuberant, it's cold!
