Follow Craig and Kevin online

Kevin is making fun of how much "stuff" Craig has in his bike bag. We are dropping bikes and bags off here:
This is where it all starts tomorrow at 7:00 am. This is Sand Hollow Reservoir. Gorgeous huh!
It was a little windy this morning, an ongoing concern about the bike course, however the forecast is better for tomorrow.
By tomorrow morning there will be 2000 bikes racked here.
They're feeling good about it, well at least one of them is.

The finish line, better pictures of the finish line tomorrow!
Now to get to the finish line you've swam, biked and ran, unfortunately you have to do two loops on the run course, so you come right down to the finish line--but don't go the way Craig is pointing, if it's your first lap you have to head out the way Kev is pointing.
Craig says he'll be starting this
while Kevin is here. It will be a big day tomorrow. If you want to follow them online or on your phones go to ironmanstgeorge.com, Kevin is # 725 and Craig is #2208

Pre IMSTG

Ok, we're here, we're checking in at the Dixie Center.

Body marking.

Dad and Kev cooked dinner, yum, carbo loading with some of Kev's fried rice and chicken.

Dad's starting to get all of his bags ready, most of them have to be dropped off tomorrow.

Kev packing his bags. You have five bags to pack, a morning bag for the clothes you take off before the swim, bike bag for gear to start the ride and stuff your swim gear back into, special needs bike bag, whatever you might want that you can pick up somewhere on the course. Run bag, hooray when you make it to the run, it holds your run gear and a run special needs bag.
Check out those painless tattoos. And you can't see it but they also put your age on your calf for all the world to see.

The A Team

t
Brent, spray painting Kevin's wetsuit. Why? Why, you might ask.
Well one member of the "A Team" has a serious dread/fear of the water. He has worked hard on his Ironman weakness all year, 4:30 am swims everyday, you can see the proof by checking out his chlorine shiny bleached hair. Despite all the pool time, in the open water he still veers to the right. So IronKevin decided he would be SwimSherpa for his dad, he would swim alongside him and keep him on course. There is one small problem though, have you ever seen an Ironman mass swimstart?

This picture is from Kevin's start at IMAZ last year, as you can see it is literally a sea of bodies, all identically clad in black wetsuits. So this is the plan, IronKev would spray paint his left arm a neon color, and swim on Craig's right side so hopefully he can keep dad on course. AlmostIronCraig is spray painting his arms as I type, so SwimSherpa can see him also.
I will let you know how it works.

Devil's Punchbowl Road Race

Brad's rollout.
Brad's race report--Jr. 13-14
I crashed, it hurt, but my bike's ok.

Kyle and Riley
Kyle's race report-Jr. 15-16
It went really fast from the start, I was able to stay with the front group until the very top of the climb, then I worked with the second group, I got third in the sprint, 12th overall.

Kevin's race report-Cat. 5
15th place- "not bad for as little as I ride"

Kev's sprint finish.

16 Candles

Team PossaAbilities Jawbones--best present ever.
Clothes, lets just open the clothes first and get it over with!
Rainbows! Thanks, Brent!
Umm..I got dish rags for my 16th birthday. No, Kyle those are bike cleaning rags, no more using moms dishtowels, bath towels for bike cleaning!

Bike tool bag, and squirt bottles for cleaning.

What is this?

Umm..they don't look like car keys. Oh maybe a new bike lock.

NO way! No WAY!

My brother Kevin is the best ever!
This was totally unexpected. Yep, the scooter is from Kev.
Thanks Kev. Mom and Dad are also handing over the Focus keys as soon as they bring it back from Utah, however that's just not too exciting.

Happy Birthday Kyle

Happy Birthday! 16! More about the celebration later.
(Whew what a run of birthdays we've had lately)

Brad's Very Late Birthday Present

Brad got his belated birthday present yesterday. He got a PossAbilities team bike.
I think it's cute, but I'm not allowed to call it cute, I can't quite think of another adjective, I'll think about it.
The bike is the Gary Fisher Cronus Ultimate. (Who thought Gary Fisher only made mountain bikes?)

Note the Countdown Clock

Sand Hollow Reservoir
Only three weeks left till Ironman St George. Craig and Kevin have been doing open water swims at Lake Perris, I think Craig had his breakthrough today, the swim went really well. Kev is going to be his swim sherpa he said he's going to spray paint one arm of his wet suit a neon color so Craig can see it--hopefully they can stay together during the swim. Craig also got a new 12-27 cassette for his bike, so I think he's ready. They just have to deal with the mental and nerves now.
I got a condo at Green Valley Resort, since we have to be there three nights it sounded way more comfortable than a hotel. They also have a great pool. I can't believe how fast it is coming.

Brian Got a Late Birthday Present

Brian got another summer leadership internship with Ernst & Young in Irvine. They are hoping it doesn't conflict with PWC. Congratulations to Brian and Sarah!

UCLA Road Race April 3, 2010

The first hill blew up the entire race. I stayed with a group of a couple guys and attacked at the end for 10th place. The descent was really fun. It wasn't a very eventful race, it is good prep for Devil's Punchbowl, where I'm going to race juniors, I raced Cat. 5 hopefully for the last time.
