Raincross Ride-No Freds

"Fred" is a derisive term used by "serious" road cyclists to describe other cyclists who do not conform to serious road cyclists' norms with regard to dress and equipment, and appear amateurish to them.  Kevin rode Raincross for the first time last week.  It is a weekly road race about 65 miles long.  Kyle and Brad do it and convinced Kevin it would be a great training ride for his upcoming Ironman.  Kev was apprehensive, it's fast and you have to know what you're doing, but with a little coaxing from his little brothers he did it.  Well he had a problem...while he has a road bike to train on, all of his cycling gear is tri gear, i.e. sleeveless racer back jersey, tri bike shoes, an old helmet of Craigs, he looked like a triathlete or maybe worse a "Fred".  It didn't bother Kevin, he rode well and said he didn't care what he looked like.  However, his little brothers and Pres. Speedier
took matters into their own hands, since Brad was climbing at Joshua Tree this weekend and wouldn't be riding, there were Brad's Rudy Project sunglasses to restyle Kev, and mom's helmet (not a Fred helmet although mom could definitely be called a Fred!) and the ultimate, a jersey.  Pres. Speedier had an extra Team Redlands jersey for the cause.  So what do you think?  He looks pretty good huh!
